An "idea" was germinated along "The Silk Road" in 1977. The idea was to see how an individual, or a group of friends, could give limited support in developing countries to enable people to use their own resources to improve their own life situation.
The "idea" became "Shrinking Horizons" - a small network of friends, who over the last 30 years have been involved in approximately 50 grass root micro-projects in Nepal. In 2006, during the building of a new school in the village of Syangma-Tati, it was felt necessary to create a formal organization.
Shrinking Horizons name and its aims remain the same:
Helping people to help themselves.
Shrinking Horizons is an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-religious and cross-cultural organization.
